Or, why does Spacetaker not look right on my computer?

Unlike many sites, Spacetaker was built using only standards-based web development techniques, and works beautifully in any modern browser -- Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, Omniweb, Safari, etc. There are lots of good reasons to adopt this kind of development plan, including ease of maintenance, accessibility, and even speed of page loads. Spacetaker does, however, require a modern browser, and that you have both cookies and Javascript enabled for our main pages (not all portions of the site require these things).

But what does all this mean for me?

This means that if you're using an older browser -- say, Internet Explorer before 6.0, or Netscape before 6.0 -- the site probably doesn't work quite right on your first visit. We're aware of this, and we're sorry. If you're on a platform where a newer browser will work (Windows since 98; Macs since OS X; almost any Linux), we strongly suggest you adopt one. The Mozilla Project offers both the Mozilla suite (which includes lots of other tools) as well as thevery popular Firefox browser.
