Fresh Arts is committed to collaborative efforts and empowering small arts organizations with the strategy and the ability to be seen, heard and touched. In response to the growing need for support for Houston's emerging arts organizations who are effecting the community in a big way, Fresh Arts presents M-lab, a dynamic and original pilot program that is focused on empowering small arts organizations by using targeted marketing strategy and data driven decision-making to deeply engage audiences both existing and new.

How does it work?

Fresh Arts will select 3 small arts organizations in the Greater Houston area to receive regular one on one marketing-specific consulting support, work collaboratively, and undergo an in depth assessment to discover:

 

 

  • -    Current audience segments and correlations with the organization's ideal/target audience
  •  
  • -    What vehicles are the best strategies for communicating the organization's message to 
  •       target audiences.
  •  
  • -    The foundation for a marketing plan and methods for measuring its success
  •  
  • -    Creative and cost effective strategies that can be implemented quickly and efficiently
  •  
  • -    Small changes with a positive effect on exposure and representation
  •  
  • -    Opportunities for cross-programming and collaboration.

 

 

The research will culminate in the execution of a recommended strategy, in which Fresh Arts may underwrite a proportion of the costs (as funding allows), and comparative case studies on marketing for the arts in Houston.

 

 

 

What Organizations are Eligible? 

 

  • -    Arts organizations within the greater Houston area that have a general operating budget                        of under $1 million
  •  
  • -    Must be a 501c3 non-profit organization
  •  
  • -    Must be willing to disclose certain information pertaining to:
  •  
    •       +  Marketing budget, plan, and fundraising expenses
    •  
    •       +  Brochures, website and other widely distributed marketing material
    •  
    •       +  Audience demographic information
    •  
    •  
  • -    Must be able to commit regular meetings
  •  
  • -    Must be willing to sign a non-disclosure document
  •  
  • -    Must be a Fresh Arts Member
